On November 26, 2024, Secretary Usman Ali Khan of the Women Development Department (WDD) participated in a symposium and awareness walk at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI). The event brought together esteemed participants, including Parliamentary Secretary Sadia Temur, Prof. Sheren Asad (Illumine Association), Ms. Rifat (SAARC Vice President), Ms. Falahat (President Women Chamber of Commerce Lahore), Ms. Saltanat Ansari (JICA Consultant), and Mian Abuzar Shad (President LCCI). The Secretary also inaugurated the Orange Illumination Drive — lighting up iconic buildings across Punjab in orange, a symbol of hope for a violence-free future. Additionally, a public transport awareness campaign was launched, spreading the message of zero tolerance for gender-based violence. In their speeches, the Secretary and Parliamentary Secretary reaffirmed WDD’s unwavering commitment to empowering women and fostering an inclusive society. Programs such as Day Care Centers, Working Women Hostels, and Women Development Centers are providing vital support to women across Punjab. Under the visionary leadership of CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz, transformative initiatives like Dhee Rani and Women Protection Centers are advancing women’s safety, empowerment, and socio-economic inclusion.
