Ms. Sumaira Samad, Secretary of Women Development, and Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza, Vice Chancellor, Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), jointly inaugurated the Women Development Center (WDC) at LCWU on June 20, 2023. The establishment of the WDC is a significant initiative of WDD that aimed to promote gender equality as well as women empowerment. It serves as a platform for Women Development Department, Government of Punjab, and the Department of Gender and Development Studies (DGDS), LCWU to work together towards achieving these goals. DGDS at LCWU has been actively engaged in different activities i.e. workshops, training sessions, and seminars on campus, where they provided valuable resources and opportunities for the students. On this inauguration ceremony, the Secretary, WDD addressed that “Women Development Center” will further enhance these efforts by providing additional facilities and support for the students. It will serve as a hub for promoting women empowerment and facilitating various activities as well as programs related to gender and development.
