𝗠𝘀. 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗮 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗱 - 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆, 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗪𝗗𝗗) is addressing the Inter-provincial consultation session on effective implementation of rules 2022 on the Anti-Rape (Investigation & Trial) Act 2021 on April 12, 2023 under Tahaffuz Programme.
The aim of this session is strengthen the delivery of gender responsive justice by increasing the capacity, coordination and knowledge of stakeholders to better handle cases of Violence Against Women (VAM).
Ms Sumaira Smad, while addressing the session, highlighted the importance of a multi-sectoral approach to tackling the issue of rape and sexual violence, which includes not only legal and punitive measures but also preventive, protective, and rehabilitative measures for survivors. She also said to emphasize the need for gender-sensitive and survivor-centered approaches in addressing the cases of rape and sexual violence, including measures such as providing support services to survivors. Which may ensure their access to justice, and promote gender equality as well as social norms that reject violence against women.
