Women Development Department (WDD) organized a consultative session titled “Consultative Session regarding Medico-Legal Challenges Faced by Women and Linkages with the Women Development Department” on May 15th, 2024. The session was chaired by the Secretary of WDD and saw participation from various officials and representatives from public departments and civil society organizations. The session aimed to identify prevalent medico-legal challenges faced by women in both rural and urban areas of Punjab, considering physical and mental health issues, evaluate the existing healthcare infrastructure and services, and address women’s health needs. Furthermore, it reviewed existing policies related to the medico-legal framework. During the session, participants also identified gaps for improvement. The session facilitated collaboration and coordination between the healthcare sector and the WDD to comprehensively address women-related medico-legal challenges. In the last, Secretary, WDD thanked all participants for joining the session and also appreciated their valuable remarks on the medico legal challenges faced by women
